Dawn Smith to Speak at 2014 Family Law Institute

Each May the Georgia Bar Association Family Law Section promotes continuing legal education by sponsoring with ICLE the Family Law Institute. Smith & Files is proud to be a Double Platinum sponsor of this year’s meeting being held Thursday–Saturday, May 22–24, 2014 at the Ritz -Carlton, Amelia Island. Smith & Files named partner, Dawn R. Smith, will be presenting “Special Needs/Special Education in Custody and Support Cases” on May 24^th.

Dawn is recognized as one of the leading advocates for the civil and educational rights of children with disabilities. She is the past President of the Board of Directors of the Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, the national membership organization for special education attorneys and advocates. She has pursued actions on behalf of children in state and federal trial courts as well as in the 11^th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.
