ATLANTA (May 30) – Smith & Files is proud to announce the addition of Kristen E. Files as an Associate with the firm. Kristen brings experience in all areas of family law including divorce, maintenance and alimony, legitimation, paternity, domestic violence and protection orders, child custody and access, adoptions, name changes, and child support actions.

Prior to joining Smith & Files, Kristen was an Associate with a North Atlanta family law firm. She also worked at Atlanta’s Department of Housing and Urban Development, where she worked on cases involving enforcement of civil rights laws and the Fair Housing Act.

She has been admitted to practice law in the state of Georgia since 2010 and is also licensed to appear before the Supreme Court of Georgia.

Kristen is a member of the Atlanta, Cobb, DeKalb County and Sandy Springs Bar Associations; the Family Law Section of the Georgia Bar Association, and the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys. In 2016, she was named as a “Top 40 under 40” lawyer by the National Black Lawyers. In 2017, Kristen was named as Super Lawyer Rising Star.
